Hello World! - Where I started
For as long as I can remember, I've always been fascinated by computers and the variety of tasks that talented people can accomplish with them. I'm also insanely interested in autonoumous robotics and the ability to program a computer making a robotic arm, drone, or the whole assembly line act as if life and purpose was given to it.
When I entered Vinal Tech for the Electromechanical trade, I was given an Arduino Microprocessor kit to play around with which kickstarted my journey into programming. I would eventually make a variety of projects which included a customized controller for the Electromechanical Shop's Hydraulic robotic arm that I fixed my Freshmen year, a laser pointer turret using two servos and a dual-axis thumbstick, and an interface designed for a 3" TFT screen to toggle activaton of relays connected to a light bulb and a programmed timer to enable or disable a set of outlets.
./qouth-the-daniel_advance-more - Where I am now
After Vinal Tech, I interned as a Mechanical Engineer for Ultra-MSI (now Ultra Maritime in Wallingford) for about 4 and a half years.
While there, I suggested the department gets a 3D printer to test the designs of our products. This was due to how the department was getting the products casted and expedited back to us to be tested; this caused a heavy drain on the budget. Due to the initiative I showed, I was given the go-ahead to research different Fused Filament Fabrication 3D printers and present my finding. In the end, the cost of the two 3D printers I chose was significantly cheaper and faster than a single prototype being rushed out and back.
Afterwards, I was hired at Whelen Engineering Co. as a 2nd Shift Machine Maintenance Technician. While there, I was able to get back into programming by automating a task that had to be performed at the beginning of the shift nearly every day. I created a graphical program that would automate the tediousness of working with data entry and calculations across multiple excel spreadsheets. On average, the time to completion for the old method of the task was between 10-25 minutes depending on the amount of parts and products that needed to be built whereas my program would complete its task within 20-45 seconds.
A_Fire_That_Burns_Within.bat - Where I want to be
Currently my sights are set on working towards the Tech industry as either a full-time application programmer, a full-stack web developer, or as a cybersecurity specialist. However, life is full of oppurtunities and I may get into a different industry following another one of my dreams such as working for the Aerospace Industry or working in Railway Transportaion.
